Smoke Wijaya's picture

Regular events of slDM - these events take place at the SL Democratic Movement HQs in SL:

Tuesdays, at 12 pm SLT, we have our regular SL Issues Discussion, which are public.

[Saturdays, from 10 am SLT to 12 pm SLT we have our regular SLDM Music Event -at the moment, our music events are not regular...join slDM group in SL for notices]

Sundays, at 11 am SLT, we have our general Membership Meeting.

For once, something funny ^_^

Look and have a laugh ... however thinking about it, this video has some satiric value and a few things mentioned about how some LLs seem to see Second Life and behave in it.

However the main point in it is, that it is soooooooo true and funny ^_^

enjoy:

Open Letter to LL

I was lookign through the forums yesterday and saw this post made by Lindal Kidd who posted an open letter to LL on the SL forums as well as in the blogs. Of course the blog post was closed by LL as it seem to be inapropirate to try to comunicate with LL through the ways they have provided.

Anyways .. here are the links to the places where the letter was posted followed by the text of the letter itself. Just in case, it gets deleted before too many people read it:

SL Abuse Report System and Appeal Process: proposed changes

Enhance the information included in the notification-email send by LL after acting on an abuse report-accusation.

Making this included information as specific as possible should help the accused party to file an informed appeal. Even though ToS article 2.6 contains the “for any reason or no reason”-clause, in light of not wanting to antagonize the possible falsely accused user/customer it seems reasonable to also state/include:

Vigilantes in Tight's secret database gets leaked and consequently popcorn is being had in large amounts.

You by now probably already heard about the leaking of Justice League Unlimited's (JLU) secret Brainiac database/wiki some two weeks ago, but for who hasn't, I will get some links in this post to read up.

JLU is a vigilante 'policing' group that has set as goal to rid the SL grid of "griefers" and does so by roaming the grid in superhero suits and abuse reporting their fingers off, as well as keeping a secret database with personal information, both SL and RL related, of tagged griefers and 'dangerous' groups (which got leaked).

Land survey

Reading the SL commerce blogs today I stumbled across a very intersting link, someone has posted in their reply to a blog post that was asking about the state of the mainland and why LL does not do anything with all the land we see staying empty and unused. It is a very informative and well made census of all land parcels on mainland and while it would need some periodic updates to be able t obe used to predict any trends, it is still a good picture of what is going on on the mainland:

No Happy New Year for Metaplace

Triss Gray's picture

During Second Life's lifecycle, many "competitors" have emerged and have sunk back into oblivion (google's Lively anyone?).
One of the more promising in my opinion, at least as far as intellectual property and "consumer rights" is concerned, was Metaplace. This was one of the only virtual worlds with a TOS that deviates from the LL-type coroporate style of "for any and no reason" and "all your base are belong to us":

Office Hour ... and how to increase our all SL experience ...

Last tuseday, the 15th december, I went to the LL comerce team office hour since the recent changes in SLX policy promised it to be a very interesting .. to use the new LL buzzword ... experience. Of course, it was not hard to guess what would happen. The present LL representatives ... Pink, Grant, Colossus, Siz and Meta Linden (but it was Pink and Colossus that did the talking) have avoided any talking about the really interesting topics and blocked or ignored any request for the given topics to be changed.

More greed ... more crazy ideas .. and SL like it will be in the future

I think I should have writen about this before, but I have not thought much about the survey the LLs have send out some time ago. I got it too and answered it in a very negative way as the propsed changes and fees presented there have been simply plain silly.

But now, not only the SLX are still being a topic of discussion, but I have also discovered this entry that was writen to answer some questions about the surves. And yes, the fees listed in the survey have not been in L$ but in US $. This is not a mistake.
