Our recent amendments to our FAQ after misunderstandings of SLDM's stance towards local governance and gridwide governance system:
Q: Does SLDM propose a government structure? Does SLDM itself have aspirations of being the governing body over SL? A: No. Implicit in our direct democratic ideal is the notion of self governance/management; we do not seek to operate or control gridwide. Although we focus on the LL ToS where we are all subject to, we don't do that to govern and control all, but to force change to enable self governance and thus decentralised governing of the world we create. To accommodate and empower *all* voices we do however seek to force a horizontal structure for the gridwide democratic system between LL and the community (which is not a monolithic block of course), to enable this decentralisation of power and equality.
Q: So, SLDM supports local governance projects? A: Yes. We think that local governance is vital to a democratic system. But local governance in SL at the moment is superseded by the 'dictatorial' ToS and control of LL. This is not to say that these local governance projects are meaningless, but they are 'superficial'; in the sense that they are not grounded on a solid base. To create that solid base, SLDM seeks change to the ToS articles towards the aforementioned rights to stimulate, empower and protect the individual users and communities.
Q: Is SLDM a communist organisation? Your logo may be indicating that. A: No.
